James reviews…2006

Aye, it was a good year. A very good year. Probably one of my best so far.

Yep, I will definately look back on 2006 with a sense of achievement- not so much a sense of getting things done, but a sense of enrichment caused by the introduction of new things and the changing of situations.

The bad thing is, what will happen in 2007 that can top this year? So many things could go wrong- I could fail my GCSEs, not get into Cirencester, the Muse gig could get cancelled- its quite worrying.

Still, it should get off to a good start- my brithday is on the 9th of January. Just saying.

Yours merrily,

James :)

“YOU ROCK!” “Thank you, so do you”

I went into town to spend Christmas money today and purchased (on a semi-impulse) Guitar Hero 2 (you may have heard of it - Playstation2, small plastic guitar, stupid game-induced moshing?).

I love it, bless it. Easier than real guitar and the guitar itself is the right size and weight for various rock n’ roll antics (plaing behind your head, jumping off things, rolling around on the floor etc.). It was like it was designed for people like me- a secret love of ROCK but with no playing skills and very little image.

Rock on! *shuts door*

Teacher! Leave those kids alone

Woot! ’tis the last day of School, and there was much rejoicing. We exchanged presents, marvelled at Abbi’s monkey, drew Supermassive Xmas Badgers on Mr Vizor’s whiteboard and went round Ben’s and played on his Nintendo Wii. Basically, its a white stick you swing in the air to play bowling. Or cut up lava lizards with a sword.

Have a Jimmy Christmas!

“its just a flesh wound”

I feel a bit better. My ulcer is packing its bags, so hopes for a pain-free Christmas dinner is at an all time high.

That reminds me- thanks to Jack and Sophie for the Diet Coke/ Mingles respectively. I hope you both enjoy your books.

In other news, today I wore a hat.

bleh

It hurts to talk. And eat. And I can’t breathe through my nose.

I’m sure there’s someone out there I can blame. I just don’t know who it is.

James in “not a B” shocker!

That’s right, I got an A in my BCS mock!

Like Abbi said, its a Christmas miracle. Speaking of which, well done to her for her A* and Sophie for her high A. I concede to both of you.

But I still have better hair than both of you.

I actually did get a B in Food Tech, but let’s skirt the issue shall we?

Supermassive quiz answers!

Section 1: Christmas

- What was the fruit that had trapdoor-opening properties in Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion? - A satsuma.

- Which indie-rock band recently recorded a song called “A Great Big Sled”? - the Killers

- What other major religious holiday takes place around Christmas? - Hannukah, if Friends is anything to go by

- Which supermarket chain sells those delicious-looking roast potatos in Goose fat? - Tescos. Oh god, they look so good…

- Which religious group banned Christmas in the Middle Ages? - The Puritans

Section 2: Music (guess the song these lyrics come from)

- “Can you see the Joker flying over, as she’s standing in the field of clover” - Joker and the Thief (Wolfmother)

- “Royal Candian blended, the spicy aroma hath mended me” - Sober (Muse)

- “My Kielbasa Sausage has just got to perform” - Kielbasa (Tenacious D)

- “Everybody’s bought our seventh album, it has outsold Michael Jackson” - Year 300 (Busted. INCLUDED ONLY TO GIVE PEOPLE WITH BAD TASTE A CHANCE IN THIS SECTION)

- “Pappa was a copper and her mother was a hippy” - Dani California (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)

Section 3: Me, you and real-life stuff

- What will I be doing on Sunday, June 17th 2007? - Rocking out to Muse at Wembley Stadium, yeah!

- Who recently threatened to commit AaronLeecide in a PE lesson?- James Hughes, the mentalist.

- How much is 3 cookies and a hotdog in the school canteen?- £1.55. (Complete rip-off, I know)

- What is the funniest thing Sarm has said in recent memory?- “is that a referance to kissing?”

- What period (not lesson) was this said? (NO PLANNERS ALLOWED!)- Period 1

And thats it. Abbi won with a score of 12.5 (“Joker and the something”) gets half marks, whilst Sophie is pipped to the post with 12. Abbi wins!

A few things, though. First if all, I truly cannot believe no-one has seen the Tescos advert with the GORGEOUS potatoes. Seriously. Secondly, I’m curious as to how Sophie got full marks on the music section, despite never showing interest in any decent bands, let alone ones that didn’t even release one of these songs as a single. In 1999. Lastly, I will ignore all comments taking a swing at my memory of Busted songs. I didn’t even buy the album, it was a present. And I was a tiny child at the time. Get over it.
