Prat of the Week, amongst other things.

Winner of last weeks award was me, for my bus cock-up. But thats not important right? The victor this week is one Dominic Howard, who was foolishly left alone by Matt and Chris to decide on Wembley support bands.

As much as I love Dom for his mad drumming skillz, you’ve got to wonder what part of “The Streets, Rodrigo..y..something and My Chemical Romance” sounded like a good idea. At least he got Biffy Clyro right. But I’m no longer seeing them. So bah.

Now, updates have been down in frequency this past few months, but that is because a) what i think is likely to offend/annoy (discarded topics include why 99% of Christians are getting a raw deal from atheists and how, as little as I care about politics, this/that/the other WILL NOT WORK) or b) nothing particularly interesting has happened recently.

Sure, I could complain about exams, but who isn’t at the moment? Or I could recite what happened the other day at work, but how is that interesting to other people?

But at least I try to update. SOME people are averaging one new post a month. Shocking, I know.

My ticket predicament

Hey, it nearly rhymes.

Anyway, in what will come as good news to Abbi, I have found someone who wants to trade Wembley tickets.

And by “someone”, I mean “4 different people”.

4! How am I supposed to decide? How will I tell the remaining three, whose hopes I might have to dash?

And, most importantly, WHY THE HELL DID THE 4 OF THEM HAVE TO REPLY AT THE SAME TIME?!

In related news, the support acts were finally announced. With the notable exception of Biffy Clyro, who are awesome, the rest aren’t even worth mentioning.

James vs. Thamesdown buses

In case you were wondering where I was today, I was involuntarily absent due to a series of very unfortunate events.

Event 1: I bought a Travelpass for the entire week, allowing my to travel to and from school, via bus, at my leisure. However, it turns out to be way more expensive than I anticipated, leaving me with about 3 quid left.

Event 2: The number 19 I used was twenty minutes early, forcing me to mill around Asda for half an hour before the 53 comes to take me to Purton. I go in MacDonalds and spend what i have left.

Event 3: When the 53 arrives, I’m told my travelpass isn’t valid in Purton. Obviously, if I had been told this prior to buying it, I wouldn’t have spunked 11 quid on it. I am left with no way to get to school.

Well, I’ll have to revise at home. Shame. I’ll just take the 19 home then. Until….

Event 4: The 19 that is supposed to take me down Cartwright Drive goes to the Outlet Village. I later find out “there are two types of 19 bus…”

Event 5: There isn’t another 19 (I double-checked this one) for twenty minutes, having seen it (this bit nearly made me scream) drive by whilst i was getting off the “wrong” 19 on the other side of the road.

Fortunately, thats where the bad things ended. After wandering around the Outlet, I catch the correct bus and finally go home, an hour after getting told my travelpass won’t work.

Oh. except one last thing…

Event 6: Get laughed at hysterically be sister who is home from College. Am likely to hear the end of it for weeks.

Prat of the week, part 2

This week the unfortunate dope is Orangegirl off the Muse forums. Here’s the deal: during a USA tour with My Chemical Romance, most of MCR and their roadies came down with serious food poisoning (Muse themselves were unharmed, thank god). As a result, a few of the shows were cancelled. Clearly outraged, miss Orangegirl decided the most reasoned, articulate thing to do was post this:

devastating. i shelled out 40 bucks and took a bus and 4 trains to get to the show in worcester, MA. muse was a no show. instead, i got to see some crappy band i’ve never heard of. sometimes it’s cool to see new bands but, in this case, it wasn’t cool at all. food poisoning? suck it up boys. i used to live in worcester and, despite the fact that it’s an absolute hellhole, there have got to be at least 100 drug stores there. hey muse: stop being pansies and go get some immodium ad. i promise, it works…tried and true, dolls. i bought my ticket in february and i have been looking forward to this for months. when i found out you wankers weren’t playing, i got all teary eyed. why make a pretty, smart, funny, charming, sweet girl cry? far as i’m concerned, muse owes me 80 bucks for my ticket and transportation as well as a t shirt. i felt ridiculous buying a ticket just to see the opening band (again: can anyone tell me why they were OPENING for my chemical romance? should’ve been the other way around) but i did it anyway. i wanted to see muse that badly. so, how long do i have to wait until they come back around massachusetts? you guys owe me…hook me up with a backstage pass so i can reprimand you in person. big, wet, sloppy kisses boys. get well soon.
It was not long before the flaming started. Even myself, normally a timid lurker in threads like these, got stuck in:
As almost everyone has said, you can’t “suck up” food poisoning. And even if they did, you can’t expect them to play a decent gig when their crew is shitting bricks.

“pretty, smart, funny, charming, sweet”? This muscular, handsome, intelligent, smooth talking, awesome-at-bass-guitar young man is shocked at your big-headedness.

Muse owes you 80 bucks? For an MCR show?

Finally, they can’t give backstage passes to EVERYONE who missed out. Thats just stupid.

However, it was ‘Nincy Face’ who hit the nail on the head, stating simply: “Dimmest Muser around”.
Enjoy the award, you dunce.

Okay! I admit it!

I actually quite like the Klaxons! They’re not actually rubbish! I wouldn’t mind them supporting at Wembley!

Oh, the shame of it!

Prat of the week award!

In the first installment, this dubious honour goes to…

THE GUY AT PIZZA HUT WHO WORKS AT THE MAKE TABLE!

His crime against me? As I was innocently stacking freshly washed pans whilst humming Tenacious D songs, he came along and, in the absolute most patronising, condescending tone of voice I or anyone else is likely to hear, slurrs “Uhhh, what are you doing?”

It turns out I was stacking them on the wrong shelf. Fair enough. My bad. I’ve never done it before. But this guy was acting like I was lying face-down in the middle of the kitchen, hitting the nearby ground with a spatula and whistling the Benny Hill theme. I have never felt so patronised, especially from someone who, by simply looking at him, you can tell has a World of Warcraft account.

Sickening. I will not be spoken down to by someone who is in his twenties and still has worse acne than me.

oh, what a rotten bit of luck! *punches air triumphantly*

Muse have once again displayed their inability to select half-decent support bands by apparently inviting the excruciatingly poor Streets to play at Wembley.
